Club Contests
August 29, 2010
We had some good laughs and great contestants for our Humorous Speech Contest. Sandra Hadlock, Karen Kenner, and Lawrence Geisler competed for a chance to move forward to the Area E1 contest in September. Lawrence took first place. Be sure to check the schedule on facebook so you can come and support our contestants.
Our Table Topics contestants Sandra Hadlock, Lawrence Geisler, and Dustin Telford each gave us their answer on "who was the person having the most influence on your life and why?" Each person gave eliquent responses to the question, but Sandra came away with First place and will progress to the Area E1 Table Topics contest. Again, our contestants need our club support, so be sure to come out the the Area E1 Contest in September.
We had five wonderful guest judges from Precision Club come and help us out. Jeri Evans chaired the Humorous Speech Contest and Karen Kenner chaired the Table Topics Contest. Ron Woodland served as Chief Judge. Our new members were able to watch and learn. Maybe they will be ready to compete next time?
See you all next week when we are back to our regular meetings again.

It's time for Club Contests Again!!
August 18, 2010
Salty Club Contests are planned for Thursday Aubust 26th and will be held during our regular meeting time. Humorous Speech and Table Topics are the Fall contests this year. No excuses - you don't even have to plan ahead to participate in Table Topics you just have to sign up and show up ready to deliver.
Humorous Speeches are always fun, so if you don't plan to participate, at least come and be entertained. Our contestants love a crowd. And if your good a laughing, so much the better.
I am looking forward to being your toastmaster of the evening and I always enjoy the creativity of our speakers. I will be coming ready to laugh and I hope you are too.
Thanks, Sharon Aaron, DTM

Toastmasters International
August 12, 2010
I am writing to you from Sunny California where I am attending the Toastmasters International Convention with Toastmasters from all over the world. This is an experience every Toastmaster should take advantage of. The parade of flags from 108 nations was stunning. The keynote speaker tonight, Todd Newton, was inspiring. I am so tired from all the comings and goings, but I wanted to take the time to share some of this wonderful experience with the group.
Plan to attend with me next year. The event will be much closer to home in Las Vegas. I will be sharing all I am learning with the club when I get home, but it is truly something each member should experience for themselves.

A Note from the President
July 30, 2010
Salty Tongues Toastmasters are looking forward to a wonderful year. July 1st started a brand new Toastmaster Year and a month has already gone by! With 11 months to go we look forward to meeting new members, enjoying wonderful contests, hearing weekly speeches, getting and giving excellent evaluations, and having fun with Table Topics at every meeting.
If you have not been to a meeting in awhile I would encourage you to come and see how we've grown. It you have never been to a meeting I would encourage you to come and visit and see how much fun speaking can be. Learning together and enjoying the unique opportunities that the Toastmaster program provides we share our Thursday evenings together in a fun and supportive atomosphere that benefits each participant. I always come away from every meeting with a smile knowing the time I have invested has been a worthwhile experience for me and I hope for everyone else in the group.
Hope to see YOU at our next meeting!

Area E1 Contest
March 30, 2010
It was so much fun to see how many of our Salty Group came out last Saturday to support our contestants in the Area E1 Speech contest. Bruce Hager gave his best ever rendition of his "Behind the Scenes", but had some stiff competition and took second place to the seasoned Toastmaster from Precision Speakers, Sid Smith. Lawrence Geisler was also bested by a Precision Speaker, Anna Zumwalt. Her circus tall tale took the trophy while Lawrence's dream took second place.
Division E contest is coming up later in April. Come out to hear the winners as they compete against other Area winners. Great speeches with more to come.
